JustFog P16A Kit Review

JustFog P16A Kit Review

The P16A is a mouth to lung (MTL) vaping device from JustFog. With adjustable wattage, changeable and refillable tank, this ain’t your grandma’s pod system.

The Kit Composition:

The P16A pod starter kit comes with the following:

1* Battery

1*  Refillable tank

1* Micro USB charger

1* User Manual

Design and Material:

The P16A walks the thin line between vape pen and pod system. It’s small like a pod vape but performs like a pen. It is made from materials produced by the German company Bayer, which is pretty impressive. It comes in red, black, blue or green, all of which have a nice matte finish. It feels just like a slightly chunkier pod vape, fitting easily into any pocket, not like some of the more cumbersome pens and box mods. It’s got a real tank which gives it a feeling of quality, but the metal does feel a little cheap and probably wouldn’t withstand too many drops.

Size and Weight:

The P16A comes in at 12cm, about the same length as most pod devices. It’s slightly chunkier than an average pod device, as the pod/tank is cylindrical, rather than flat. It’s heavier than a normal pod device but not as heavy as a pen or box mod. Like I say, this device walks the line. It’s heavy enough to feel in your pocket, but you don’t need to worry about having a sturdy belt.

Battery, Power, and Charging:

The P16A has a J-Easy3 battery with a capacity of 900mAh. The battery life depends on the you want to use. Obviously, the higher the wattage, the less time the battery will last. Either way, it’s not too bad and will easily last you a day and most of a night. There are warning lights to let you know how much battery you have left. White means it’s full, blue it’s going down, red, it’s getting empty and if it blinks four times, you’re dead. Pretty simple.

The battery comes with many good smart protection functions: short circuit protection, overheating protection, over-discharge protection, overcharge protection, and overvoltage protection.

To charge you simply plug the charger into a USB port. The cord isn’t very long, so if you want to vape while it’s charging, you’ll need to put your face pretty close to a laptop.

Tank/Pod:

The P16A’s Clearomizer tank hold 1.9ml of e-liquid. This is plenty for a day at school or work, especially with the levels that it offers. You’re not going to be chasing huge clouds but you can take a lungful puff, but the flavor is average.

Another good thing about the tank is the anti-spit protection shield which is working perfectly. The only problem is the drip tip which is very loose, and it can be easily lost.

Coil:

The P16A can take two kinds of coil: the 1.6oHm and the 1.2oHm. According to their website, the 1.6 offers a smooth flavor, while the 1.2 offers a deep flavor. In practice, I didn’t notice too much a difference between the two. The coils are stuffed with 100% pure organic, Japanese cotton which sounds cool but doesn’t mean much. It does mean that the chances of a dry hit are pretty low.

The main problem with the is its durability, as it is really rare to use it for more than 2 days, which is making it pretty expensive to use, and in the same time, the flavor is not good as expected. The is better by far than the P16A, and it can be rebuilt for a couple of times as well.

Airflow System:

The airflow system has had quite a lot of thought put into it. Twist the bottom half of the tank to change the airflow. The airflow works fine and it’s possible to get a pretty sizeable cloud. If you twist it to half of the tank, it operates the child-lock system, which is useful if you have young kids are at the stage of putting everything in their mouths.

Usability and Installation:

Pretty simple. Not as easy as a pod device, obviously. The tank is easy to refill, just screw off the top and fill it. The installation is a little more difficult but if you’ve ever done it before, should pose no problem.

Insulation:

Insulation isn’t a problem. I did not feal any abnormal heat anywhere.

Software:

Pretty minimal but actually pretty good. There are three settings which are easily changed with the press of a button. The light system tells you how much battery life is left.

Price:

The device is pretty cheap, really. The refillable tank makes this an excellent alternative to a pod system for those who want to save money. But you have to prepare to change the every 1-2 days.

This device is like the bastard child of a pod device and a vape pen. If you’re into hardcore box mods, this ain’t for you. If you’re into and want something a little cheaper to run but which isn’t much more difficult to use, this is a very option. But do not expect a great flavor!
